Hickory Run State Park

By Nathalie Sousa-

Good weather means one thing in my household: road trips to explore nature! Nothing feels more natural and comforting. We are lucky not having to go too far to connect with the environment, and our yesterday adventure led us the Hickory Run State Park, located in the northeastern part of Pennsylvania. This large park has over 40 miles of hiking trails, three state park natural areas and miles of trout streams.

It is an absolutely beautiful park and it seems you could spend a lot of time there hiking, fishing, camping, etc. I was just there for a couple hours and for some stupid unknown reason I was wearing flip-flops; so all I could do was photograph the breathtaking scenery.

One of the most extraordinary things about Hickory Run is the Boulder Field, a striking rock-strewn area that has been unchanged for 20,000 years. I actually took a chance and hiked over the boulders, it was a lot harder than it looks.

I highly recommend this place to take the family, that special someone or even to go by yourself. In my opinion, nothing beats nature and the peace it brings to us. My only advice would be to wear hiking boots or sneakers if you are planning a boulder to boulder hop.
